Iwate University
Intercultural Studies

The main target languages are English, German, French and Russian and the object of study are countries/areas where these languages are spoken, as well as the history of the Western World. We aim to update the study of cultural phenomena and encourage students to take a scientific approach and develop a wider perspective. Thus students are expected to study the Western world as well as Japanese culture from a global point of view. To give students a cosmopolitan outlook and enable them to work in a variety of fields, language training is a really important part of our curriculum.
